DECATUR-The Decatur Police made an arrest March 6 the suspect was charged felony drug charges and several other charges including carrying a pistol without a permit. The Decatur Police released a statement concerning the arrest:
“On 03/06/2016 at approximately 1525hrs, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit were on patrol near the intersection of Carridale St and Danville Rd SW.
While Officer Macklin was traveling southwest on Carridale St SW, he got behind a gray Chevy Tahoe and observed that the windows were extremely dark. At that time, Officer Macklin conducted a traffic stop on the vehicle for window tint. The vehicle came to a stop at the intersection of 19th Ave and Carridale St SW.
Officer Macklin made contact with the driver who was identified as Jessie Sanchez.
During the course of the investigation, Sanchez was found to be in possession of a quantity of marijuana and methamphetamine. Sanchez was also found to be in possession of 2 assault rifles, 1 pistol, and drug paraphernalia. Officers also discovered that Sanchez’s Alabama Driver’s license were suspended and that he did not have a valid pistol permit. Officer Macklin also determined that Sanchez’s window tint was 19 percent which is well below the legal limit which is 32 percent.
Officers also located a large quantity of U.S Currency on Sanchez which was seized pending condemnation procedures.
Officer Macklin placed Sanchez under arrest for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Marijuana 1st Degree, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia, Carrying a Pistol Without a Permit, Window Tint, and Driving While Suspended.
Officer Macklin transported Sanchez to the Decatur City Jail where he was booked in for his charges.
Sanchez was later transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $7,000.00 dollar bond.”
