DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department made a routine traffic stop resulting in the arrest of two people on charges of possession of a controlled substance as well as several other charges on Friday, August 29th. Here is how the Decatur Police describe the event:
SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
“On August 29, 2014, at approximately 1812 hrs, Officer Jonathan Macklin with the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit was patrolling in the area of Austinville Rd SW. Officer Macklin conducted a traffic stop on a silver Mercury Sable in the 2200 block of Calray Ave SW for a traffic violation (Following too Close).
Officer Macklin made contact with the driver of the vehicle and identified him as Robert Christopher Callahan and the
front seat passenger of the vehicle as Kayla Leann Kilpatrick. During the course of the investigation, Callahan was found to be in the possession of a quantity of drug paraphernalia. It was also discovered that his driver license was revoked. Kilpatrick was found to be in the possession of a quantity of Synthetic Cannabinoids (Spice) and drug paraphernalia.
Callahan was placed under arrest for Driving While Revoked, Following too Close, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Tampering With Physical Evidence. Kilpatrick was placed under arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Both subjects were transported to the Decatur Police Department where they were processed in without incident.
Callahan will remain in the Decatur City Jail in lieu of a $2,000.00 bond. Kilpatrick will later be transported to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $3,000.00 bond.”
