DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit made a traffic stop of a Ford Explorer and made an arrest for Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Physical Evidence. Here is how the Decatur Police describe events:
SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
“On June 27, 2014 Officers with the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit were patrolling in the vicinity of 8th St SW and 2nd Ave SW. Officer Reynolds observed a Ford Explorer traveling eastbound on 8th St SW towards Central Pkwy that was swerving and crossing over the yellow lane divider. Once the Ford approached the intersection of 8th St SW and Central Pkwy the Ford turned left and began traveling northbound on Central Pkwy. At that time Officer Reynolds initiated her emergency lights and stopped the Ford for the multiple lanes moving violation.
Officer Reynolds approached the Ford and made contact with the driver (Michael Evans) and the front seat passenger (Jessica Massey). During the course of the investigation, Jessica Massey was found to be in possession of a quantity of Oxycodone pills. Massey was placed under arrest for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and placed into the patrol car. Michael Evans was given a verbal warning for his driving and released without further incident.
Officer Reynolds transported Massey to Decatur Jail. During the booking process, Massey had an additional quantity of pills concealed on her person. Massey attempted to destroy the pills but officers were able to preserve the evidence. She was found to be in possession of a quantity of Hydrocodone pills and an additional quantity of Oxycodone pills. Massey was subsequently charged with two counts of Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Tampering with Physical Evidence.
Massey was later transferred to the Morgan County Jail and held in lieu of a $5,500.00 bond.”
