Tony Lambert Matlock, age 64 of Jefferson, Georgia, formerly of Ford City, Colbert County, Alabama, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, September 16, 2023 at Northeast Georgia Medical Center in Braselton.
A private memorial service will be held at a later date.
Mr. Matlock was born July 23, 1959 to the late Lonnie D. & Margaret Morris Matlock in Chicago, Illinois. Tony loved his family and friends and in return was especially loved by them. He will be remembered as a hard worker, who devoted over 23 years to his family owned corrugated business in Buford, Georgia. He will be remembered by family and friends as relaxing with a cigarette in one hand and a cold beer in another, while watching NASCAR. He particularly enjoyed drag racing with his son and grandson.
He is survived by his wife, Melanie Matlock; son, Tony L. (Amy) Matlock; daughters, Amy Matlock Peebles & Allison Matlock Campbell; sisters, Elaine (Steve) Kerr, Jackie (Noland) Smith, Jennifer (Gary) Johnson, Linda Matlock, & Michelle Franks; half-brother, DeWayne (Rhonda) Matlock; and 4 grandchildren, Breanna Ray, Dylan Matlock, Payton Matlock and Blake Williams; former wife and mother of his children, Rebecca “Toot” Waldrep Matlock; step-mother, Sheila Matlock; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorial Park South Funeral Home, 4121 Falcon Parkway, Flowery Branch, Georgia 30542 is in charge of arrangements.
