Mr. Tony Joe Winnett, age 57, of Empire passed away Tuesday, June 22, 2021 at his residence. Funeral services will be 2:00 PM Friday, June 25, 2021 at Bell Sumiton Chapel. Bryan Tidwell will officiate. Visitation will be one hour prior to services. Sumiton and Adamsville police departments will provide a motorcade from the funeral home to Dilworth Church of God cemetery, where Tony will be laid to rest next to his wife. Bell Funeral Home Sumiton has been entrusted with the arrangements.

Tony was a retired law enforcement officer who loved his work and served his community to the best of his abilities over 20 years. He enjoyed traveling to new places, being around beaches and lakes, and spending time with his pets. He loved his Harley and rode whenever he was able.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ray and Pat Winnett; and beloved wife, Sherry Kemp Winnett. He is survived by his sister, Charlotte Winnett; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Lakeside Hospice in Pell City provided loving care for Tony and his family during his final days. The family would like to express their thankfulness to them. The men and women of the Sumiton and Adamsville Police Departments provided many acts of kindness and will be remembered with thankfulness by Tony’s family.

Pall bearers will be from the police departments of Adamsville and Sumiton. Honorary pall bearers are Jim Thatcher, Jimmy Sims, Derrick Williams, Eddie Williams and other law enforcement officers.
