Toney Woman Dies In Single Vehicle Accident In Limestone County

ATHENS-The Alabama Law Enforcement Agency reports a single-vehicle accident that has taken the life of one person and sent another person to hospital:

“A single vehicle crash that occurred at approximately 11:53 a.m. Friday, January 27, has claimed the life of a Toney woman.

June B. Jones, 87, was fatally injured when the 2021 Chevrolet Equinox that she was a passenger in, left the roadway, struck a culvert and overturned. Jones was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the Chevrolet, Billie O. Blackburn, 88, of Athens, was injured and transported to Huntsville Hospital for treatment.

The crash occurred on Alabama 251 near Van Dyke Road, approximately six miles north of Athens, in Limestone County.

Nothing further is available as Troopers with the Alabama Law Enforcement Agency’s (ALEA) Highway Patrol Division continue to investigate.”
