Tommy Ray Hargrove, age 84, of Ardmore, Tennessee, departed this life on Monday, December 25, 2023, at Elk River Health and Nursing Center of Ardmore.
Visitation will be Saturday, December 30, 2023, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home from 11:00 a.m. until 1:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held immediately thereafter in the chapel with Pastor Rick Shannon officiating. Burial will be in New Grove Cemetery in Blanche, Tennessee.
Tommy was born March 16, 1939, in Cash Point, Tennessee, to John Allison and Geneva (Jester) Hargrove. He was a member of Cash Point Baptist Church and was ordained as a deacon in 1972. He was a United States Army Veteran and a member of the Ardmore Veterans Group.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Deloris Hargrove Hammel; and his daughter, Jacqueline Hargrove Kelly.
Survivors include his wife, Aline Holt Hargrove; daughter, Tammy Hargrove Walls, of Ardmore, Tennessee (formerly of Oak Ridge, Tennessee); grandsons Benjamin (Tori) Walls of Knoxville Tennessee, Samuel Walls and Dane Kelly, both of Oak Ridge Tennessee; son-in-law Mike (Jennifer) Kelly of Oak Ridge, Tennessee; and brother, Garon (Lana) Hargrove of Ardmore, Tennessee, as well as several nieces and nephews.
Tommy graduated from Blanche High School in 1957, and later obtained his Associates Degree from Calhoun Community College. In 2000, he retired from Champion International Paper Mill in Courtland, Alabama, where he worked in electrical and industrial maintenance. After his retirement, Tommy joined the North Alabama Wheelchair Ramp Builders, a team which builds and installs ramps for disabled individuals. Being a part of this team and his friendships with the other team members brought him immense joy.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Elk River Health and Nursing Center of Ardmore for their care of Tommy. Also, special thanks to Kenneth Camp, a close friend and fellow veteran, for his many visits with Tommy.
