Tommy Morris JonesTommy Morris Jones, Son of the late James Neal and Maggie Leanna French Jones, passed away May 27, 2024, in his home in the Oakland Community. Morris was born in Benoit, Mississippi in 1937, and his family moved to Tennessee while he was serving his county in the Air Force from 1955-1959.

As a young boy Morris accepted Jesus as his savior and was baptized at the First Baptist Church in Greenville, Mississippi.

After graduation from Union University in Jackson Tennessee, he was awarded a National Defense Educational Act fellowship to attend the University of Tennessee where he earned his Masters and Doctorate Degrees.

Morris taught at Mobile College in Mobile, Alabama before accepting a position at the University of North Alabama where he developed a major in Computer Information Systems. He retired as a full professor after 25 years.

Those that passed prior to his death were his parents; brothers, James Jones; Eugene Jones ( who was killed in the Korean War), and Marshall Jones; sisters, Mary Lee Dzuck and Sarah Henderson.

He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Marie Graves Jones; daughter, Marissa Ann Jones Grigsby (Greg); son, Marshall Jones; grandsons (who called him Daddy T) Ethan Grigsby and Shaler Grigsby (Madison); brothers, Leon Jones, Bill Jones, and David Jones; sisters, Shirley Bynum and Barbara Warren.

Visitation will be at Morrison Funeral Home, Central Heights , Friday May 31, 2024 from 1:00PM until 3:00PM. The funeral will be held in the funeral home chapel with Pastor Chris Weldon of Pleasant Hill Church officiating. Burial will be Saturday June 1, 2024 at Antioch Baptist Church Cemetery, 425 Antioch Road Humbolt, Tennessee 38343.

Pallbearers will be Ethan Grigsby, Shaler Grigsby, Daniel Graves, Bob Blow, Steve Brown, Glen Graves, and Brian Hodge.
