Tommy McGill, 72, passed away peacefully at home, July 12, 2023. He was born May 28, 1951, to Finley and Carnell McGill. He graduated from Algoma School in 1971. He worked for D.R. Simmons in Pontotoc for 12 years. Then he helped his father with his lawn service and took it over after his father retired. He mowed for people, rode horses, trained horses and loved rodeos, he was an avid horse man. He did fencing for others in the community. He had a band called 341 Band where he was the band leader, sang and played the rhythm guitar. He loved spending time with and helping the Amish. He was very respected, had a big heart, would do anything for anyone and was loved by all who knew him. He was raised in the baptist faith.
Services will be at 2:00pm Saturday, July 15, 2023 at Tutor Memorial Funeral Home. Bro. Ronnie Owens will officiate. Burial will be in the Cooke Cemetery. Tutor Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements.
Survivors, wife, Lynda; daughter, Dana Tutor of Missouri; son, Jake Shanafelt (Val) of Pontotoc; sister, Becky Young of Tupelo; granddaughter, Makenzie Poz (Jhason); granddaughters, Scarlett and Gema Pate of Nettleton; niece, Debbie George (Mike) of Shannon; great nieces, Victoria Young (Jason) and Morgan Bumper (Garrett); great nephew, Tyler Sullivan; great great nephews, Alex and John Tyler Sullivan and Ridge Bumpers.
Preceded in death by, parents; stepson, Craig Stephen Palmer; stepdaughter, Tabitha Gail Palmer; and a nephew, Barry Young.
Pallbearers, 341 Band Members, Danny Gregory, Clyde Crow, Bobby Davis, John Garner, Ed Jackson and great nephew, Tyler Sullivan; honorary, Robbie Pate, Alex Sullivan and R.D. Luddy.
Visitation, 5-8pm Friday, July 14, 2023 and noon until service time Saturday, July 15, 2023.
