Tommy M. Guice, 82, of Fort Payne, passed away January 9, 2024 at his residence. He was born June 13, 1941 to the late Judson Luther Guice and Autrice Lou Barnett Guice. He was a faithful member of First Methodist Church where he directed the singing for the Robert Purdy Bible Class, as well sang in the choir for many years. He was a member of the DeKalb Genealogical Society. Mr. Guice was a beloved teacher of Biology and Anatomy at Fort Payne High School for 44 years. He started the first boys and girls soccer programs at FPHS and went on to win 6 consecutive Girls State Titles from 1991 to 1996. He was inducted into the DeKalb County Sports Hall of Fame in 2010.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 13th at First Methodist Church with burial following in Geraldine Cemetery. The family will receive friends Saturday at First Methodist Life Center from 10 a.m. until the 1 p.m. hour of service. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to First Methodist Church, 206 Grand Avenue NW, Fort Payne, AL 35967.
He is survived by his children Robby Guice, Matt Guice (Amy), Meg Morrow (Zach); brother Freddie Guice; and grandchildren Ben, Abby, Elliott, Kate, Caden, Maty, and Grayson.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 51 years Martha Crawford Guice, son William Joshua Guice, and brothers Wayne Guice and Boyce Guice.
