Tommy Fred Cox, 78, passed away Friday, May 3, 2024 at his residence.  He was born in Russellville, AL to Len Wright and Verdie Ruzelle Scott Cox.  He was retired after more than 30 years from Sunshine Homes as an inspector.  He loved to cook, make wine and grill and was famous for his peanut brittle.  He and his wife Peggy loved to travel with their RV group.  He was a member and deacon of First Baptist Church in Red Bay, a 32nd degree mason and had served as a Gideon.

Funeral services will be Sunday, May 5, 4 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home Chapel, Red Bay, AL with Bro. Larry Hill and Bro. Bill Harper officiating.  Burial will be in Hillcrest Memorial Gardens.  Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL will be in charge of arrangements.

He is survived by three sons, Steve Cox (Elonda), Stan Cox (Ronaka) and Stuart Cox (Tammy); grandchildren, Ely Cox (Liz), Emily Cox (Joe Buckley), Michaela Marquis (Logan), Colton Cox (Madison), Fallin Cox and Austin Cox; sister, Dorothy Stockton and sister-in-law Dale Bonds (Thomas).

He was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Peggy Ann Malone Cox and a sister, Ann Cox.

Pallbearers will be Ely Cox, Colton, Cox, Logan Marquis, Joe Buckley, Austn Cox and Caden Gardner.  Honorary pallbearers will be Ralph Winchester, Lowell Humphres, Wilbur McKinney, Larry Smith and Doug Liles.

Visitation will be Sunday, May 5, 1-4 p.m. at Deaton Funeral Home, Red Bay, AL.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to Shriners Children’s Hospital at www.shrinerschildrens.org or Gideons International, Franklin West Camp, P.O. Box 1203, Red Bay, AL 35582.
