Funeral for Tommy D. Farris, 82, of Decatur will be Thursday, September 12, 2013, at 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home Chapel with his son, Thomas Farris, officiating. Burial will be in Roselawn Cemetery. Visitation will be Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.
Mr. Farris, who died Monday, September 9, 2013, at Morningside Assisted Living, was born April 20, 1931, in Guys, Tennesse, to Henry Lee Farris and Gertie Verona Farris. He was a member of Cedar Ridge Baptist Church. He was a retired millwright from 3M Company, Army veteran of the Korean War and well known athlete. His wife, Regina E. Farris, preceded him in death.
Survivors include three sons, Thomas Farris (Dixie), Sean Farris and Matthew D. Farris, all of Decatur; two daughters, Mary Farris and Sharon Paradise (Keith), both of Decatur; one sister, Betty Cox (Al) of Mississippi; and ten grandchildren, Paul Farris, Stephanie Blair, Farris Paradise, Ethan Paradise, Caitlin Farris, Jacob Farris, Kyle Lasch, Benjamin Farris, William Farris and Madison Farris.
Pallbearers will be grandsons.
