Tommie Toone Whitt, 86 of Northport, Alabama, formerly of Ardmore, AL, died on Sunday, September 27, 2015, at DCH Regional Hospital in Tuscaloosa, Alabama.
Born Tuesday, September 10, 1929 in Ardmore, Alabama, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Toone and the late Lou Malone Toone.
Tommie married Harold on May 29, 1948, following their graduation from Ardmore High School. They were members of Piney Grove Baptist Church for many years. They moved to Northport, AL in 2007 to be close to their daughters. They were members of Carrolls Creek Baptist Church. Tommie was an excellent bookkeeper for First Baptist Church in Winchester, TN, as former clerk for Ardmore, AL for 14 years, and their personal store, Whitt’s Appliance. She enjoyed laughing and wanted others to laugh. She enjoyed reading the newspaper comics every day. She loved her family very much and sacrificed for them. She loved her husband of 67 years, Harold, her
children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren and prayed for them daily. She will be greatly missed by everyone who loved her. She loved her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ and served Him faithfully in every church they were members. She was preceded in death by her parents, brother: Daris (Buddy) Toone, son: Gary Lloyd Whitt, sisters: Elease Luna, Aldena Faulkenberry, Martha Hemphill, Beatrice Eckstein, Mary Virgie Watkins, and Alma Lou Smith, and a grandson: Andy Frey.
Survivors include her husband: Harold Whitt of Northport, AL, daughters: Gayle Frey of Tuscaloosa, AL, and Gloria Roggli (Alan) of Northport, AL, five grandchildren: Gloria (Derren) Burrell, Tara (Chris) Sullivan, Emily (Eric) Michels, and Jared Roggli, and 10 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, September 30, 2015, at 2:00 P.M. at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, AL with Bro. Alan Roggli, Bro. Lynn Marshall, and Dr. Ray Stonecypher officiating. Burial will be in Gatlin Cemetery, Ardmore, AL.
The family will receive friends on Tuesday, September 29, 2015, from 5-8 PM at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, AL.
