Tom’eka LaTrice Armstrong, age 45, a resident of Columbia, Tennessee, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 7, 2023, at her residence.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday, December 14, 2023, at 12:00 PM at Heritage Funeral Home, with Lisa Yokley Dawson providing the eulogy. Following the service, she will be laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. A visitation will be held on Wednesday, December 13, 2023, from 4:00 – 6:00 PM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
Born on April 26, 1978, in Franklin, Tennessee, Tom’eka was the daughter of Jacqueline Webster (Larry) Grandberry and the late Willie Edd Armstrong. She graduated from Mt. Pleasant High School in 1996, where her vibrant spirit shone through her involvement in basketball and cheerleading.
Beautiful both inside and out, Tom’eka graced numerous beauty pageants in her younger years, winning titles such as Miss Maury County Teen, First Runner Up in the Mule Day Court twice, and First Runner Up in the State Beauty Pageant in Gatlinburg. Notably, she was the first African American on the Mule Day Court. Tom’eka found joy in cooking and was an avid reader. An extremely sweet and personable individual, Tom’eka embraced life, relishing in self-care, and cherishing moments with her family. She took immense pride in cheering on her son, Alexzander, at his football games and was a dedicated Alabama football fan. Tom’eka held a special place in her heart for her beloved dog, Evelyn. She was employed in production at Tenneco in Spring Hill for several years and was a member of Last Age Church in Antioch.
In addition to her mother and stepfather, she is survived by her children, Linda Darnell Howard of Columbia, Jamie Clarke Abernathy of Columbia, Alexzander Emmanuel Armstrong of Mt. Pleasant, beloved companion, Andre Johnson, step daughter, Kileyah Johnson, brother, Tyson Girard (Tangela) Webster, step brother, Larry Grandberry, Jr., step sisters, Diamond Grandberry, Margaret Grandberry, grandchildren, Alyvia Jacqueline Ann Scott, Justice Ko’Patrick Howard, and nieces and nephews, Kanishia La’Doris Webster, William Thomas O’Neal Webster, Davonte Rasheed Webster, Tionna An’Jazi Davis, and Tatum Victoria Webster.
Along with her father, she was preceded in death by her sister, Tamela PaTrice Webster, grandparents, Bessie Odessa Stephenson, William Thomas Webster, Sally Mae Pillow, and Lemuel Frank Armstrong, and niece, Jacqueline Ann Marie Wilson.
