Mr. Burch, age 87, of Hornsby, passed from this life Friday, January 3, 2014 at the home of his daughter in Bethel Springs.

He was born October 29, 1926 to Robert Roland Burch and Rosa Mooney Burch, both of whom preceded him in death and lived all of his life in the Hornsby area. He was a factory worker for Harmon Automotive, a sawmill worker and a farmer. He enjoyed building houses for himself and loved to raise chickens and to fish. A US Marine veteran, he was united in marriage to Peggy Moore in 1952 and she preceded him in death on October 7, 1990. Mr. Burch was a member of Mt. Gilead Baptist Church and helped build the first church at Mt. Gilead when it was a log church. He was a great card player but mostly enjoyed playing checkers with his grandchildren.

Survivors include two daughters, Betty Kirk of Bethel Springs and Carolyn (Rick) Rickman of Hornsby; two sons, Bobby Burch and Donald Burch, both of Hornsby; and six grandchildren, Jamie Burton, Sheila Kirk, Terry Wayne Gladish, Brian Gladish, Chellie Hall and Brandy Zebley. In addition to his parents and his wife, he was preceded in death by a sister, Eddie Sparks and a brother, George Burch. The family requests memorials be directed to the American Cancer Association (Breast Cancer) or the Mt. Gilead Baptist Church Fund.
