Timothy “Tim” William Safford

Timothy “Tim” William Safford, 70, of Florence, died, Monday, August 5, 2024 at his residence. Tim was born on March 21, 1954, in Utica, New York and in 1955, moved with his family to Florence, Alabama where he lived the remainder of his life. He was a 1972 graduate of Bradshaw High School and a 1976 graduate of the University of North Alabama. Tim spent most of his working life in the modular building construction business. He was a lifelong member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and enjoyed University of Alabama football, performing handyman type projects for family members and above all spending time with his grandchildren. Tim was preceded in death by his parents, Harry and Jean Safford; and a brother, Thomas Safford, all formerly of Florence.

Tim is survived by his loving wife of over 49 years, Martha Sue; two daughters, Diana Turner (Eric), Suwanee, Georgia and Julie Lane (Trey), Florence, and a son, James Safford (Kayla), Florence. He is also survived by nine grandchildren. They are Harrison, Owen and Elliott Turner, Faith, Hope, Joey and James Lane, and Jameson and Greyson Safford. Tim is further survived by a sister and five brothers. They are Suzanne Quick (Reni), Apex, North Carolina, David Safford (Deborah), Tuscaloosa, John Safford, Florence, Donald Safford, Nashville, Tennessee, Michael Safford (Dorinda) Hendersonville, Tennessee, and Robert Safford, Hendersonville, Tennessee.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, August 10, from 12:00 to 1:30 p.m. at Greenview Funeral Home. A graveside service will immediately follow in Greenview Memorial Park with Rev. Jonathan Howell officiating.

Pallbearers will be family and friends.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the St. Joseph Catholic Church building fund, 203 Plum Street, or the St. Joseph Regional Catholic School Foundation, 115 Plum Street, Florence, AL 35630.
