Timothy “Skylar” Rivera, 24, Tuscumbia, passed away on Wednesday, October 4, 2023. Visitation with family and close friends only will be Saturday, October 7, from 10:00 – 11:00 a.m. at Morrison Funeral Home, Tuscumbia. The funeral service will follow in the funeral home chapel. AJ Joyner will officiate. Burial will be in Calvary Missionary Church Cemetery, Tuscumbia.
Skylar was preceded in death by his great-great-grandparents; great-grandparents, Bobby Joe Johnson, and Joe and Rachell Williams; grandfathers, Tim Johnson and Bob Strong; grandmother Mary Rivera; cousin Shawn Brewer; and other family and friends.
Skylar is survived by his parents, Michael and Donna Buszka, and Carlos and Sheila Rivera; sister, Kylie Buszka (his one and only “Kyky”); grandmother, Lisa Strong, grandfather, Carlos Rivera, Sr.; grandparents, “Papa Tommy” and “Mimi” (Tommy and Nancy Bynon); great-grandmother, “Nanny” (Glenda Johnson); aunts Heather “Herro” Bynon (Kevin Nichols) and Amanda Todd (Corey); great-aunts, Sharon Burton (Charles) and Linda McCafferty (Michael); great-uncles, Darren Thigpen and Joe Williams; great-great-aunt, Wanda Vess (Lee Ray); great-great-uncles, Mark, Cleo (Wanda), and Leo (Joyette) Johnson; cousins, Preston and Levi Todd, Jackie and Jesse Burton, and his special “lil cuzzo”, Olivia Bynon; grandparents-in-love, Mike Buszka and Chris Ford, and Steve and Pam Hinders; childhood bestfriends, AJ Joyner, Tristen McKinney, and Tyler Smart; his friend for life, Savannah Allen; and his favorite little pup, “Willer Mae”.
Skylar loved his hair, clothes (Nike, to be specific), shoes, cars and music, and going to the gym with his workout partner “lil cuzzo, Livi. He was definitely one of a kind. He had such a big heart and would give the shirt off his back to help someone.
