Timothy Michael Hellriegel Profile PhotoTimothy Micheal Hellriegel, age 72, died on November 16, 2023 at the Henderson County Community Hospital from double pneumonia. Timothy was born to Cecil Hellriegel and Elizabeth (Betty) Hellriegel (née Dempsey). He has four siblings and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

Timothy, “Dr. Tim”, graduated High School from West Leyden High School in 1969. He attended Triton College where he attained his Associates Degree in Science and National (Lincoln) College where he obtained both his Bachelor’s Degree in Human Biology and Doctor of Chiropractic; his postdoctoral studies included Neurology at Logan College in St. Louis, Missouri, the Spine Research Institute in California, and a residency at American College of Chiropractic Neurology in New York, New York.

In 1992, He was awarded the title Diplomate of the American Chiropractic Academy D. A. C. A.N. and established a practice in Wonder Lake, Illinois as one of the select few Chiropractic Neurologists in the world.

Dr. Tim inherited Huntington’s Disease from his father, Cecil Hellriegel, and his career path changed later in life. He worked as a truck driver from 1998-2003, finding joy traveling the country and seeing as much of the United States as he could. When he could no longer continue in this profession, he retired to Adamsville, TN, where with family, he raised pigs, chickens, and goats. Dr. Tim loved wearing a ball cap and fishing.

During his last six years, he not only was a patient at Vanderbilt University at the Huntington’s Disease Center of Excellence but participated in ongoing research on the progression of Huntington’s Disease. He chose to donate his brain to Huntington’s Disease research and the rest of his body to science. Both in life as well as in death, Dr. Tim wanted to help, heal, and teach.

Dr. Tim was quick with a joke and a helping hand. He was a devout catholic, beloved family member, and a great friend. He had a love of sweets (especially chocolate pudding and pie). He was very honest, an excellent teacher, a fantastic doctor, soft spoken, and quick-witted. Dr. Tim was a good son, a loving brother, and a wonderful Uncle.

Dr. Timothy Hellriegel is preceded in death by his grandmother Areah Dempsey, his parents Cecil and Betty Hellriegel, his nephews Jason and Micheal Rhode, and his sister-in-law Kayhan Hellriegel. He is survived by his siblings Michelle Rhode, Daniel Hellriegel, Pamela Perrott (Joseph Perrott), and Theresa Johnson.
