Timothy J. Gifford, age 65, of Cowan passed away on Sunday, April 4, 2021. Tim was born in Harvey IL on November 13, 1955 to Joe and Betty Gifford. After graduating from Thornton Township High School, Tim enlisted in the U.S. Navy (1974-1979), serving at the United States Pentagon in Washington D.C. Upon discharge from the Navy, Tim served in the U.S. Air Force 1979-1983. Tim was stationed in Guam and in San Diego. While in the Air Force Tim earned the National Defense Service Medal, Air Force Overseas Short Tour Ribbon, and the Air Force Longevity Service Award Ribbon. Tim moved from Harvey to Cowan in 1993 and loved living in the small-town atmosphere. In Tim’s younger days, he enjoyed playing softball and was an avid sports fan. Tim loved the Chicago Cubs and loved to joke with his brothers who were Chicago White Sox fans. Tim loved the Lord and really enjoyed listening to music. We are confident Tim is singing our Lord’s praises in Heaven today. He is preceded in death by his parents, Joe and Betty Gifford. Tim is survived by his brothers, Joe (Debbie) of Valparaiso IN, Mike of Nashville, and Steve (Patty) of Crete, IL. Tim is also survived by his niece, Rachel Roberts of Crete, IL and his nephews, Brian (Angie) of Valparaiso, IN, Chris (Janneal) of Highland IN, Steve Jr (Rachel) of Nitro W. Virginia, Josiah (Corinne) of Bourbonnais, IL and Ben (Jocelyn) of Chicago Heights, IL. . Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, April 10, 2021 from 10:00am -11:30am at Moore-Cortner Funeral Home with services following at 11:30am from the chapel.
