Pastor Timothy Edward Elrod, age 39 of Stanton, Tennessee, departed this life Tuesday morning, January 24, 2014 at the Haywood Park Hospital in Brownsville, Tennessee.
Pastor Elrod was born in Memphis January 22, 1975 to the late Ruby Elrod, and to Mr. Steve Elrod, who survives. On October 14, 1994, he was united in marriage to his wife, Hope, who also survives. He graduated with the class of 1993 from Haywood High School, received an Associate of Arts degree from Mid-America Baptist Theological Seminary in Memphis, and a Bachelor of Arts degree from Liberty University in Lynchburg, Virginia.
Most recently, he worked as an Associate Minister at Christ Church of Brownsville. Prior to that, he was the pastor at Good Hope Baptist Church in Adamsville for four and a half years. He was strongly involved with mission work in Kentucky, Louisiana, Ecuador and Venezuela, and taught Sunday School classes at Christ Church. Before living in Adamsville, he lived in Whiteville for a time. He enjoyed preaching, reading, woodworking projects, evangelism and spending time with his family.
In addition to his wife of twenty years, survivors include his three children, Casey Elrod of Jackson, Timothy Blake Elrod of Stanton, and Sarah Elrod of Stanton; and sister, Sabrina Benard of Brighton.
He was preceded in death by his mother; and a sister, Stephanie Travis of Dyer.
