– Franklin County school board members accepted a resignation letter from Vina physical education teacher Sonny Tibbs at its meeting Thursday night.
Tibbs was charged in November as a school employee having sex with a student under 19 years of age. He has been on leave with pay since his arrest.
Superintendent Gary Williams said at the time he would recommend the termination of Tibbs at the board’s next meeting. The board did not meet in December, and Williams received Tibbs’ resignation letter Monday.
