DECATUR-The Decatur Police Department responded to a call regarding drug activity at 228 Cedar Lake Road. On January 7 surveillance of the residence resulted in the arrests of three suspects on various drug charges:
“SYNOPSIS OF OFFENSE & ARREST:
Over the course of several months, the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit has received numerous complaints about illegal drug activity occurring at 228 Cedar Lake Rd SW Apartment C.
On October 14th 2015, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit and Organized Crime Unit conducted a “knock and talk” at the residence in reference to the illegal drug activity. During the investigation, officers located an active meth lab inside the residence. Several individuals including Ashley Gabbard were arrested for numerous drug charges. The
individuals arrested in that particular case are still awaiting trial for their charges.
On January 7th 2016, members of the Decatur Police Department’s Anti-Crime Unit received additional complaints of illegal drug activity.
Officers began conducting surveillance on the residence. During the surveillance, officers
observed several individuals arrive at the residence, stay for a short period of time and then leave.
Officers then arrived at the residence to conduct another
“knock and talk”. Upon arrival made contact with Ashley Gabbard, Kristopher Clemons and James Kennedy.
During the course of the investigation, both Gabbard and Clemons were found to be in possession of a quantity of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Officers placed Gabbard under arrest for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia. Gabbard is currently out on bond for Manufacturing 2nd degree and several addition drug charges. Officers are currently working with the Morgan County District Attorney’s office to have her bond revoked.
Officers placed Clemons under arrest for Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and Loitering in a Drug House. He was later transferred to the Morgan County Jail in lieu of a $3,500 bond.
Officers placed Kennedy under arrest for Loitering in a Drug House. Kennedy is currently on parole through the State of Alabama for Manufacturing 2nd degree. Officers are currently working to have his parole revoked.”
