DECATUR-The Morgan County Sheriff’s Department responded to a call at a residence in Decatur about drug activity. Here is how Sheriff Ana Franklin describe events of Friday, December 12th:
“On December 12, 2014 the Lawrence County drug task force responded to 530 County Rd. 329, (A residence located in Decatur Alabama, but requires you to drive through Lawrence County ) to investigate A report that Laurel Hoppenjans had been illegally purchasing pseudoephedrine from a pharmacy located in Moulton. Once Lawrence County drug agents arrived on scene, they made contact with a Laurel Hoppenjans, James Dewberry and Jessica Larkins. At the residence, Lawrence County drug agents located a burn pile containing items used in the methamphetamine manufacturing process. At this point, the Lawrence County drug task force notified the Morgan County drug task force.
Morgan County drug agents received verbal and written permission from all three subjects to search the property. Drug agents located several ounces of a liquid substance that tested positive for methamphetamine. Drug agents also located Drano, Coleman fuel and other 
items used in the manufacturing process. Hoppenjans was in possession of numerous amounts of hydrocodone pills, with no prescription.
Mud Tavern volunteer fire department was called to the same for decontamination.
