ATHENS-The Athens Police Department responded to a call at the Budget Inn regarding a Robbery. Here is how Police Chief Floyd Johnson described the events:
“On Sunday morning our department received a call from a person at the Budget Inn on 31. A 40 year old man told officers he was doing his laundry when he was approached by two white males asking for fifty cents. The man told the two males to go to the office. He said the younger of the men when to a truck and got a pistol and returned. He said the older man started hitting him and threw him to the ground. The younger male started hitting him also. They also told the man to give him his money. The two men left with the victim’s billfold containing $600.00 and his credit card. The victim also told officers there was a female driver in the truck and she was yelling commands to the two males. Our
department asked other departments in the area to be on the lookout for the truck and all three suspects.
Later in the afternoon on Sunday Ardmore police Officer David Posey saw a truck in Ardmore that was occupied by two people that fit the description of our suspects. Investigator Brett Constable and Officer Chris Mardis went to Ardmore and interviewed both subjects. After the interviews Constable arrested Cody James Barns and Michelle Leigh Jackson Casey for Robbery 1st degree. Both suspects were booked and
transferred to the county jail. The investigation into this case is continuing and other arrests are expected.
Early this morning Sgt. Katrina Flanagan was patrolling the area of Lowes on US 72. She noticed a Jeep Cherokee parked on the west side of the building near the Garden Center. She then saw Scott Gentile placing a bag of mulch into the vehicle. While searching Gentile, Flanagan found a plastic bag with multiple pills in his pocket. The pills were identified as Acetaminophen and oxycodone hydrochloride. Gentile was arrested for Possession of Controlled Substance and Theft of Property 3rd. He was transported to the police department for booking and transferred to the county jail.”
