Thompson Graham Eason, beloved husband, father, brother, and friend passed away unexpectedly November 22nd at the age of 63. He was born in Jackson, Mississippi where he spent his formative childhood years, attending Jackson Academy, Saint Andrews, and graduating high school from The Education Center. From an early age, Thom exhibited a precocious talent for music, particularly with the guitar. His love for music defined much of his early life. Only in his late teens, Thom was already a founding member of the band SS and subsequently spent his early twenties traveling the southeastern United States, performing in clubs, and honing his musical craft. When SS dissolved, Thom continued to perform with other groups including The Square Root of Now and The Windbreakers. After ceasing to tour, Thom continued his musical path by writing and recording his own music, ultimately releasing it with a partner under the name The Pluto Gang. Thom had an intense curiosity and a life-long love for learning. He was a true autodidact. He taught himself how to write computer code then parlayed this skill into a successful career in Information Technology. He worked for several distinguished companies including McCarty-Holman Company, Stuart C. Irby Company and Sonepar. He was highly regarded for his expertise and dedication. Thom’s interests were ever evolving. He had a fascination with flight and aircraft, so he learned to skydive. In 2003, he earned his private pilot certificate and was flying planes. Thom developed a profound interest in Japanese culture sparked by his love of James Bond films, so he enrolled in Japanese language courses at Millsaps College. He joined the Mississippi chapter of the Japan America Society eventually taking on the role of treasurer. It was through his involvement in the Society that he met his future wife, Mieko Kikuchi. They married in 2009 and in 2011, their son Hiro was born. True to Thom’s character, he embraced his new role as husband and father with unmatched devotion. His family was his greatest treasure, and he poured his heart into loving and caring for them. Thom’s passing has left a void in the lives of his family and his legion of friends.
Thom is survived by his wife Mieko, his son Hiromasa and his brother Henry Eason Jr. He is preceded in death by his parents Henry Eason Sr. and Nell Primos Eason.
