Thomas Wayne Allen Sr., 86, of Decatur, died September 4, 2015. A gathering of friends will be held on Tuesday from 1 p.m. until 2 p.m. at Roselawn Funeral Home. A celebration of his life will be at 2 p.m. in the chapel of the funeral home. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Cemetery. Dr. Marvin McCormick and Sandra Locke Godbey will be officiating.
Mr. Allen was born December 6, 1928, in Vicksburg, MS to Charles Simpson Allen and Mary White Allen. His parents preceded him in death.
He is survived by his wife of 60 years, Hazel McBroom Allen; three sons, Thomas Allen Jr.(Emily), of Alexandria, VA, Chris Allen and Donnie Allen(Deborah), all of Decatur; granddaughter, Danielle Allen, of Decatur; and grandson, Ashley Allen(Christi), of Moulton; three great-grandchildren, Ashton, Stratten and Tilleigh Allen, all of Decatur.
Also, Jessica and Ava both of Decatur.
He graduated from St. Aloysius High School in Vicksburg, MS, then he attended the University of Southern Mississippi in Hattiesburg, Ms. and the University of Oklahoma in Norman, Ok. Mr. Allen served his country in both the Navy and the Air Force. He was employed by NASA Marshall Space Flight Center in Huntsville where he was a test engineer until he retired in 1985. He was a member of Wesley Memorial United Methodist Church.
Serving as pallbearers will be family and friends.
