Obituary of Thomas W. Brown Thomas “Tommy” Brown, 68, of Decatur, Alabama, beloved husband, father, Pops, friend, and bus driver, passed away from this life into eternity with his savior on April 4, 2023.

Tommy is preceded in death by his daughter, Penny; parents, Truman and Helen Brown; and brothers, Larry and Bill Brown.

Tommy Brown and the love of his life, Joan Blackwood Brown, were blessed with 50 wonderful years together. Tommy retired as a job setter from Saginaw/Delphi in 2007 after working in Plant 21 for 30 years. He enjoyed serving as Captain of the fire brigade at Saginaw/Delphi for many years. Tommy was a professional videographer of weddings, events, and graduations for 41 years.

After Tommy’s retirement, his passion for helping children and his community led him to drive a bus for Decatur City Schools for 15 years. As a 1972 Austin High School graduate and member of the Austin High School Marching Band, Tommy looked forward to providing bus transportation to as many AHS football games and band competitions as his schedule would allow. As a bus driver, Tommy’s top priority was to provide a safe means of transportation, no matter the situation.

Throughout his life, Tommy was a faithful member of Beltline Church of Christ. Tommy was always eager to share his love for Jesus with anyone willing to listen.

Tommy’s favorite pastimes were spending time with his wife and daughters and playing with his “best buddy” granddaughter.

Visitation for Tommy will be on Friday, April 7, 2023, from 10am to 12pm at Beltline Church of Christ. The Celebration of Life service will begin at 12pm at Beltline Church of Christ with Pastor Steve Smith and Dr. Charles Elliott Officiating. Following the ceremony, graveside service will be held at Roselawn Cemetery.
