Thomas “Tommy” Alvin Hanback

If Thomas “Tommy” Alvin Hanback could talk today, he’d tell people how beautiful Heaven is, since he went to reside there for eternity on Saturday, July 22, 2023. Born in Waynesboro, TN on October 24, 1946, he lived in Florence, AL most of his life. Customers will remember him fondly as the “Carriage Driver” for 25 years in downtown Florence, proudly creating a unique business called Carriage Strolls of the Shoals. He and his wife, Terrye, built Castle Hill Wedding Chapel in 2007.

Visitation will be Tuesday, July 25, 2023 from 10-12 Noon at Greenview Funeral Home. The funeral service will begin at 12 Noon in the funeral home chapel with Rev. Gerald Montgomery and Rev. Wayne Gean officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.

He is survived by his wife of 26 years, Terrye McGee Hanback; children, Kim (Greg) Dalrymple, Brian and Mark Hanback and Nathan Moore; numerous grandchildren; great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews; brother, Roger (Brenda) Hanback; and spoiled cat, Mau Mau.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Alvin and Louise Hanback; sister, Doris Littleton and Brother, David Hanback. Extended “animal” family, his horses, includes Fred, Waffle, Bob and Clyde.

Tommy’s work record included Motor Drome, TVA, Wise Alloys, retiring as a Machinist from Reynolds Metals after 30 years of service. He proudly served his country in the Alabama National Guard from 1966 – 1974. He was a faithful member of Bethel Grove Church.

Pallbearers will be Brian and Mark Hanback, Nathan Moore, Greg Dalrymple, Donnie Arnold and Jeff Butler.

Honorary pallbearers will be Arlie Daniels, Trigger Oakley and Allen Smith.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wounded Warrior Project, P.O. Box 758516, Topeka, Kansas, 66675-8516.
