Thomas Samual “Sam” Watson

Thomas Samual “Sam” Watson of New Market passed away on Sunday while surrounded by his loving family.  He enjoyed being outdoors and  loved farming and worked on various farms in the area for many years before working for the Madison County School System for 10 years and retiring.   He was gifted at working on things, could make anything, and was an avid Alabama football fan.  Sam loved his two dogs, Cheesecake and KK, both of who passed away in recent years.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph & Jessie Watson.

Surviving family members include his wife of 55 years, Gracie Watson;  his son, Sam Watson (Tracey);  his son, Keith Watson (Mandy);  his grandchildren:  Samuel Chase Watson, Miranda Lynn Watson, Parker Thomas (Daysa) Watson, McKinzie Leeann Watson, Grace Pauline Watson, Braydan Henry Watson, Madison Annmarie Eloise Watson, Hudson Keith Watson, and Sam Murphree; his great-granddaughter: Tori Watson.

He is also survived by his siblings: Shelby Watson, Shela Taylor, Beverly O’Neal, Donna Christison, Darlene Carter, Dan Watson, and Rebecca May, along with numerous nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Friday evening from 5PM until 8PM at Hazel Green Funeral Home; Funeral services will be Saturday at 12PM at the funeral home with interment following in Concord Cemetery. 

Sam will be remembered for his love for his wife, children, grandchildren, and his siblings, for always being there to help when needed, for being a hard worker, and for loving those around him.
