Thomas "Tom" Orman Chambers Thomas Orman “ Tom” Chambers , age 79 of Hanceville passed away on Tuesday, March 19, 2024 at his
residence surrounded by loving family. He was the oldest son of the late William Orman and Eunice
Jeanette (Mullins) Chambers born on November, 28th, 1944. He is preceded in death by his parents, his
brothers Mike Chambers and Ricky Chambers.
Tom grew up and lived in Cullman County in the Hanceville area and was a graduate of Hanceville High
School. After High School, he enlisted in the United States Army and retired from the Military with 32
years of service. Tom loved his work and worked for several years with A&P Foods. Tom enjoyed family
gatherings and in the summers fired up the grill or smokers and made BBQ for everyone. He liked to have
crawfish boils. His BBQ sauce was always canned and put away for these special times. Any of these
events ended with his homemade ice cream that he liked to prepare.
Tom spent much time with his grandchildren. He went on many weekend horse riding and band trips with
Zachary, supported Alice Grace in her academics and band, and loved riding the side by side and Jeep
with Parker Claire watching deer on his trips to East Tennessee. Tom enjoyed riding, breaking, and
breeding horses for many years. He enjoyed the National Forests, traveling to East Tennessee mountains,
and up until recently, Tom rode horses for therapy.
In past years, he helped work and support the Birmingham homeless mission, went on out of country
mission trips, and helped many others as he could. He attended Cornerstone Revival Center.
Tom is survived by his wife of 57 years, Sandra Jeanette (Smith) Chambers, daughter Kristi (Dennis)
Beavers, three grandchildren Zachary, Alice Grace, and Parker Claire. One brother Johnny (Karen)
Chambers, and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Visitation of friends will be Saturday March 23rd from 9:30 to 1 in the Chapel of Cullman Heritage
Funeral Home. Funeral service begins at 1 with Pastor Jeremy Wilbanks officiating. Military graveside
honors will follow service at Bethel United Methodist Church Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Lawayne
Allred, Billy Holoway, Jason Queen, Clifford Smith, Brent Smith, and Brian Holmes. The family would
like to thank the many friends and neighbors who came by and checked on Tom during the past few
weeks.
