Funeral Services for Mr. Thomas O. Campbell Sr. “Paul Tom”, age 88 of Lineville, will be held on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland at 2:00 P.M. with Rev. Wade Price and Rev. Wayne Adams officiating. Burial will follow in the Clay County Memory Gardens.

Mr. Campbell passed away on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Clay County Nursing Home. He was born in Coosa County, was a graduate of Goodwater High School, and following graduation enlisted in the U.S. Navy. He worked as a radio operator using Morse Code as a way of communication. He also served his country while on the basketball court, playing in several leagues throughout his stint in the military, using his height to his advantage. After serving his country for 4 years, he worked in the cotton mills in Sylacauga, where he would eventually meet the love of his life, Mrs. Bobbie Jo. They eventually moved to Clay County, where he also began working for Kimberly Clark out of new site. Mr. Campbell eventually built a Kimberly Clark office in Lineville, and worked faithfully for 33 years as a foreman. “Paul Tom”, as his family affectionately called him, loved spending time outside. Whether it was fishing with his son, Tommy Jr, or pulling his grandsons in a wagon behind his lawn mower to get them to fall asleep, he time was well spent in the sun, spending time with his family. He enjoyed taking care of his lawn and garden. “Paul Tom” had a strong work ethic and work habits, something he passed along to his children and grandchildren, which was very important to him. He enjoyed calling and checking on his friends over the phone, as well as calling Tradeline every now and then, just to talk and share scripture. Mr. Campbell was a member and Deacon at Bellview Baptist Church.

Mr. Campbell is survived by his son, Tommy Campbell Jr. (Traci) of Lineville; his son in law, Brian Roberts of Highland; three grandsons: Matt Campbell (Holli), Wes Campbell (Courtney), and Parker Roberts (Paige); four great-grandchildren: Thomas Case, Jeffery Creed, Skipper Louise, and Scout James; two sisters: Sue Gillispie of Mobile and Martha Moe (Randy) of New Site; one brother, Roger Campbell of Rockford; Mark Gillispie, plus a host of other close family and friends.

He is preceded in death by his parents: Oliver Shelton and Elsie Day Vickers Campbell; his wife, Bobbie Jo Campbell; one daughter, Tammy Jo Roberts; one baby sister and two brothers: John Campbell of New Site and Wayne Campbell of Fairburn, GA.

His visitation will take place on Saturday, July 20, 2024 at Benefield Funeral Home in Ashland from 12:00 P.M. until service time at 2:00 P.M.
