Thomas Norman Batts – Obituary

Thomas Norman Batts, 94, of Athens, passed away at his home April 5, 2019. A graveside service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Monday, April 15, at Poplar Creek Cemetery, with Spry Funeral Home directing.
Mr. Batts was born in Limestone County, Nov. 24, 1924, to John C. Batts and Minnie Gilbert Batts. He was retired from TVA. He served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a lifelong member of Poplar Creek Baptist Church. Norman was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Thula Black Batts. He is survived by sons, Jack Batts (Beth) and Jerry Batts (Marilyn); two sisters, Emily Johnson and Nella Catherine Hardy, both of Talladega; three grandchildren, Allison Batts, Christopher Batts (Leslie) and Lauren Batts McCracken (Will); and one great-grandson, Finnegan. Family members express their sincere appreciation for the compassionate care of their father by Hospice and by his caregiver, Ms. Dona Pack. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Hospice of Limestone County or the charity of your choice.
