miltonBro. Thomas Milton Wright, 89, passed away Sunday, October 9, 2016, at The Meadows. He was born January 3, 1927, to George Albert and Alice Lavada Bishop Wright. He was a Baptist minister who pastored a number of churches for over 62 years in the service of the Lord. He was a member of Bethel Baptist Church. He served his country in the Merchant Marines and U.S. Army during World War II and was a member of the American Legion Post 51. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, and using chain saws as well as singing and playing the guitar and harmonica.

Services will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, October 12, at the Bethel Baptist Church with Dr. Gary O’Neal, Dr. Kevin Clayton, and Bro. Roger Akers officiating. Burial will be in the New Chapel Cemetery. McNeece-Morris Funeral Home of Fulton is entrusted with arrangements.

Survivors include his wife of 69 years, Dorothy “Dot” Wright, of Dorsey; three daughters, Kathryn Howington of Tupelo, Sylvia Rankin (Dennis) of Mobile, Ala., and Wanda Craven (Ralph) of Laurel; one sister, Lois Wright of Evergreen; his grandchildren, Robert, Ronald, Rebecca, Greg, Rachel, Amanda, and Jason; and 19 great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, October 11, at the McNeece-Morris Funeral Home in Fulton and from 1 p.m. until service time Wednesday at Bethel Baptist Church.
