Thomas Jerry Nixon, 79, of Boaz, Alabama, passed away on November 7, 2022. He was born in Boaz, Alabama, on October 28, 1943, to Cois Alvin and Mary Margurite Bowman Nixon.
Jerry served his country honorably in the United States Navy. He obtained his Associates Degree in Business from Snead State Community College and worked as a UPS driver for many years. Mr. Nixon enjoyed fishing, had a passion for swapping junk for more junk, and he was a member of the “Liars Club” that met each morning at Hardee’s. Jerry was a good man and would help anyone who needed him. He loved his family, and his grandbabies and great-grandbabies brought him much joy. Although his family will miss him greatly, they find comfort in knowing that Jerry is now reunited with his beloved, his late wife Janice.
Mr. Nixon is preceded in death by his parents; wife Janice Rhoades Nixon; sisters, Mary Ethel Nixon, Martha Nixon Lee; great-grandchild, Kaelyn Jones; and furbabies, Katie Bell and June Bug.
Jerry is survived by his son, Kevin Nixon; daughters, Angel Satterfield (Brian), Trista Chamblee (Wayne); honorary sons, Gene Nixon, and Tony Nixon; brothers, Larry Nixon (Shirley), Bruce Nixon (Carla), John Nixon (Toni); six grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
Friends are invited to join the family for a time of visitation on Wednesday, November 9, 2022, in the Holly Pond Funeral Home Chapel, beginning at 12 noon. The family will receive guest at the funeral home until 2 p.m. A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, November 9th, 2:30 p.m., at Pleasant Grove Cemetery, in Horton, Alabama, when Mr. Nixon will receive military honors. Kerry Simpson will officiate. Mr. Nixon’s grandchildren, and their spouses, along with some of the great-grandchildren will serve as pallbearers. They are Brian and Keri Chamblee, Garrett Chamblee, Jordan and Josh McGuire, Avery Benefield, Luke McGuire, Hali and Will Smith, Kimber Smith, Bristol Smith, Morgan and Matt Jones, Andrew Jones, Emma Jones, Josie Nixon, Brayleigh Brown “BB”, Miranda Wester, and Maverick Weaver.
