Thomas Howell Bonds – Obituary

HowellThomas Howell Bonds, 90, of Iuka, MS, passed away Friday, April 29, 2016, at his residence. Mr. Bonds was a member of Mt. Moriah Baptist Church. At the age of 18 he was drafted into the United States Navy, and served on the Charles E. Brennen Destroyer Escort 446 during WWII. He was a part of the original Bonds Construction Company, which was formed by Russell, Travis, and Thomas Bonds, and he was with the company until it sold in 2009. Having worked with his nephews, he became affectionately known “Uncle Tom” to all of his co-workers. He was last employed with APAC, and retired at the age of 84. Thomas loved his work and the people he worked with. Visitation is scheduled for 5:00 until 9:00 p.m., Sunday, May 1, at Cutshall Funeral Home in Iuka. Funeral services are scheduled for 3:00 p.m., Monday, May 2, at Cutshall Funeral Home Chapel in Iuka, officiated by Bro. Stanley Magill. Interment will follow in Hebron Cemetery. Pallbearers include Jerry Bonds, Phillip Bonds, Doyle Morton, Breland Randle, Robbie Grisham, and Gary Bonds. Honorary pallbearers include Larry Bonds and Charles Bonds. Cutshall Funeral Home of Iuka, MS is entrusted with arrangements. He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Wylodene Grisham Bonds of Iuka; one son, Tommy Bonds (Wanda) of Iuka; one daughter, Barbara Bonds Curlee of Corinth; one sister, Jeanie Bonds Van Pelt (Fred) of Tucson, AZ; four grandchildren, Brian Bonds, Bradley Bonds (Cindy), and Brent Bonds, all of Iuka, and Anna Katherine Curlee of Florence, AL; two great-grandchildren, Caroline and Conner Bonds; a sister-in-law, Ona Faye Bonds of Mobile, AL; two special caregivers, Pamela Mackey and Dakotah Hubbard, both of Iuka; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, James Harvey and Sara Annis Skinner Bonds; his brothers, Russell, John, Oneill, and Travis Bonds; his sisters, Grace Morton and Ona Boothe; and a son-in-law, Cullen “Len” Curlee.
