Thomas G. Green Sr. – Obituary

ThomasThomas G. Green Sr., 90, of Town Creek died Monday, June 10th at his residence. His funeral will be Thursday, June 13th at 2 p.m. at Jackson Memory Funeral Home with the Rev. James Miller officiating. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery. Visitation will be tonight from 6 to 8 at the funeral home.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick and Hazel Green of Town Creek; and one son, Thomas Gregory Green of Decatur.

He is survived by his wife, Edith Tucker Green; two sons, Thomas Goodlett Green Jr. (Melissa) of Cherokee and Dan (Sharon) Green of Town Creek; seven grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Mr. Green was a World War II staff seargent in the 134 Infantry 35th Division. He received the World War II Victory Medal, two Good Conduct Medals, European, African-Middle Eastern Service Medal with three Bronze Star Clusters, Distinguished Unit Badge, American Service Medal, Purple Heart with one Bronze Oakleaf Cluster representing wounded in action (multiple times), Heroic Bronze Star representing bravery in action, Qualification Badge and Army Presidential Unit Citation Ribbon. He had achievements in machine gun, pistol and carbine guns.

Pallbearers will be Billy Lee, Steve Kerby, Coy Kerby, King Streater, Jerry Garrett and Reggie Garner. Honorary pallbearer will be Dusty Green.
