Thomas Elbert Harwood, age 61, of Huntsville, AL, (formerly Arab, AL) passed away Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at Huntsville Hospital. Thomas was born in Marshall County, AL on February 28, 1962 son of Thomas Owen “Jack” Harwood and Faye Nell Hayes Harwood. Thomas was a US Army veteran and a former employee of the Maintenance Department of Huntsville Hospital.
Thomas was fascinated by family genealogy and would spend many hours researching family history. He thoroughly enjoyed spending time at Waffle House drinking his coffee and making friends. He loved his fur baby, Roscoe. They often went out for a ride and would stop to get Roscoe a hamburger.
Family members left behind to cherish their memories are: sister, Barbara Hulsey; niece, Brittany Boyette (Phillip); great nephew, Lucas Gigandet; aunts, Helen Pierce (Jerry) and Linda Blakely; uncle, Randall Hayes (Beverly); cousin, Julie Godwin.
Preceding Thomas in death are his parents, Jack and Faye Nell Harwood; brother, Richard Earl Harwood; sisters, Eliza Ann Harwood and Jackie Marie Harwood.
Thomas’ services will be at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel on Saturday, January 6, 2023. Visitation time is from 11:00 am until 1:00 pm. The funeral service will begin at 1:00 pm. Randy L. Blakely will officiate. Burial with military honors will take place in Brashiers Chapel Cemetery.
