Thomas Edward Smith, 87 of Florence, AL passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015. He was a native of Lauderdale County and retired from Florence Fire Department. He was a member of Jackson Heights Church of Christ, Bass Masters and North Alabama Bass Fisherman, and was a U.S. Navy veteran. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather.
The funeral service will be held on Friday, December 18, 2015 at 12:00 p.m. in Greenview Memorial Chapel with Barry Gilbreath officiating. Burial will follow in Greenview Memorial Park.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Smith; parents, Elmer Smith and Pauline Oldham (Poss); brother, Earl Smith; grandson, Jason Kelley.
Survivors include his son, Jeff Smith (Judy); daughters, Wanda Kelley (Stan), Paula Darling, and Karen Mitchell (Jeff); grandchildren, Lisa Kankol, Jessica Reed (Thomas), Adam Darling, Brandon Mitchell, Josh Mitchell, Deanna Greenhill (Braxton) and Danielle Kelley; great-grandchildren, Abbigale Kelley, McKinley Kelley, Payton Russom, Caden Greenhill, Braelyn Greenhill, Haevyn Greenhill.
Pallbearers will be Brandon Mitchell, Josh Mitchell, Adam Darling, Larry Smith, James Sockwell, and David Darling. Honorary pallbearers will be Bubba Smith, David Smith, and Jack Bryan.
