Thomas Edward Ellis, Jr.Thomas Edward Ellis, Jr., age 80, husband of Vicky Ellis, and a longtime resident of Tamara Lane in Columbia, passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2024, at his residence.

 

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 30, 2024, at 10:00 AM at Heritage Funeral Home with Bro. Allen Lancaster officiating. Following the service, he will be laid to rest in Maury Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. A visitation will be held on Friday, March 29, 2024, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM and again on Saturday from 9:00 – 10:00 AM at the funeral home. Heritage Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.

 

Born on March 21, 1944, in Columbia, Tennessee, Tommy was the son of the late Thomas E. Ellis, Sr. and the late Janie Inez Harville Ellis. On May 7, 1962, he married his beloved Vicky Lynn Clark. Tommy dedicated forty-five years of his career as a cast house superintendent for Consolidated Aluminum and Alumax Aluminum before retiring. Even in retirement, he continued to serve, working as a self-employed mail truck driver for the United States Postal Service for six years. In the 1970s, he also served as a Reserve Deputy for the Maury County Sheriff’s Department. Tommy was a man of many passions; he enjoyed fishing, golfing, and in his younger days, he was an avid boxer. Known for his stubbornness and stern demeanor, Tommy was nevertheless regarded as firm, but fair. Above all, he was an exceptional husband, father, and provider, leaving behind a legacy cherished by all who knew him.

 

In addition to his wife, he is survived by his son, Jeffery Thomas (Angela) Ellis of Columbia, TN, daughter, Terri Lynn Price of Dennison, TX, brother, Billy Jim Ellis of Columbia, TN, sister, Darlene Floyd of Hernando, MS, grandchildren, LeAnne (James) Walp, David (Sarah) Price, Wendi (Jake) Moore, Steven Drake, Jordan (Crystal) Howell, Dylan Ellis, fifteen great grandchildren, one great great grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews.

 

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his siblings, Margaret Ellis Hay, Una Mae Steward, Shirley Ann McCandless, and Howard Lee Fautt.

 

Pallbearers will be James Walp, Michael Walp, Layne Miersen, Jordan Howell, Dylan Ellis, David Price, and Tony Clark.
