Mr. Thomas Earl Buford, age 71, passed away Saturday, June 3, 2023 at Crestwood Medical Center in Huntsville, Alabama. Mr. Buford was a New Years baby as he was born on January 1, 1952. Mr. Buford was a resident of the Lacey’s Spring community in Morgan County. His parents were Clarence Earl Buford, Jr. and Mabel Ernestine Baites Buford. His wife, Charlotte Morris Buford, passed away in December 2018. Mr. Buford was a CDL truck driver and concentrated in commercial hauling.
Thomas was known by many as a big story teller, mostly of stories he made up. He loved the mountains and spent much time vacationing in the Chattanooga area and in the Smokey Mountains.
Thomas leaves behind a loving family including; his son, Marcus Brad Lovell; stepdaughter, Joy Grace Hudson; brothers, Rex Buford and Robin Buford; grandchildren, Aleeza Dominique Hudson and Jazmyn Grace Hudson; and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.
Preceding Thomas in death in addition to his parents, Earl and Ernestine Buford, and wife, Charlotte Buford, are step-daughter, Julie Ann Lansdale and brother, Randall “Bit” Buford.
The family has elected to respect Thomas’ wishes with cremation. In order to honor Thomas a visitation with the family and a memorial service will be on Wednesday, June 7, 2023 at Brindlee Mountain Chapel in Morgan City. The visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 2:00 p.m. The memorial service will follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. His brother, Rex Buford, will officiate.
