Thomas David Turner, 81, passed away Saturday, July 20, 2024.

Mr. Turner was a veteran of the U.S. Navy serving as a radioman on the Admiral’s Ship “Springfield”. He was retired from General Motors. He was a ham radio operator K4EQH. Tom was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Lula (Dalton) Turner; daughters, Denell Rae Turner and Lolita Turner Bentley.

Tom is survived by his wife, Sonja M. Turner; step daughter, Dee Hicks (Will Tumlin), step son, Ethan Hicks (Brandie); step granddaughters, Kayleigh Hicks and Kelsey Hicks; step grandsons, Zachary Hicks and Jackson Wade; Boo, his dog and most faithful and loyal companion; sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Karen and Paul Wyatt, Susan and Richard Dean, who were our strongest prayer warriors during this difficult time; and son-in-law, Raymond Bentley.

Special thanks to Dr. Robert Mann and the nurses and caregivers on the 5th floor 5500 wing at NAMC for the care given to Tom. Special thanks to our friends and neighbors, Leon and Billie Sharp for their love shown to Tom, and friends Wesley and Pete Hamilton, Larry and Mavis Burbank, Bennie Woods, and Charlie and Mary Jo Whitmire.
