Thomas Charles Brooks was born on October 1st, 1950, and departed this life on August 21st, 2022, surrounded by his family, at Huntsville Hospital in Huntsville, Alabama. Thomas is survived by the love of his life, wife Elizabeth Brick Brooks. He was a devoted father to two children: Amy (David) Eades of Richmond, Kentucky, and Thomas C. (Heather) Brooks, Jr. of Winchester, Kentucky, and to three grandchildren: Seth Eades of Richmond, Kentucky, Lauren Olivia and Lawrence Thomas Brooks of Winchester, Kentucky. Brothers-in-law Stephen (Dora) Brick of Selma, Texas and Michael (Vicky) Brick of Yuma, Arizona also survive, as well as a host of nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas Clayton Brooks, his mother, Jamaica Wattenberger Brooks, and siblings, Keith Brooks, Linda Brooks, John Carson Brooks, Dona Black Gamble, and Patricia Brooks Stephens.

Thomas served his country from 1975-1978 with the United States Army as a Missile Technician and was an inactive Reservist in the Army Reserves from 1978-1981. In 1978 he joined Hughes Aircraft Company and continued his 43+ year career in civilian life always serving his fellow Soldiers. Tom was a Senior Missile System Field Engineer. He maintained world class anti-armor missile systems including TOW on many platforms to include Cobra helicopter, Bradley Fighting Vehicles, M901s, M220, ITAS and Javelin. He taught, trained, and mentored many personnel who continue his legacy today. Tom never failed to serve others who are still emulating him.

A celebration of life will be held on Saturday, August 27th at 10 a.m. at Laughlin Service Funeral Home, 2320 Bob Wallace Avenue.
