Memorial Service for Thomas Carl Owens will be Thursday, November 3, 2022 at 11:00AM at Shelton Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Benny Sivley officiating. The family will receive friends from 9:30AM to 11:00AM prior to the service at the funeral home.
Mr. Owens, age 81, passed October 31, 2022 at his residence in Decatur Alabama.
Mr. Owens was born in Limestone County, Alabama to Tommy Lee Owens and Ethel Brock Owens. He was a member of Decatur Baptist Church. He owned Owens Painting Service for 50+ years and was an avid gardener. He grew the best tomatoes in Decatur. He loved Alabama football and spending time with his family.
Mr. Owens is survived by his daughter, Cindy Vinson (Alan), grandchildren Ariel Hartsfield (Murray), Amber Brooks (Adam), great grandson Ryker Vinson, step-children Charla Harbin (Anthony), Chris Sherrill (Tracey), Tracey Sherrill (Jennifer), step-grandchildren, Connor and Ben Harbin, Caleb and Payton Sherrill, Katie Wright (Dalton), Maggie Sherrill, brothers Charles Owens (Barbara), Eddie Owens (Rhonda), sisters Shirley Mitchell (Ted), and Betty Jackson (CJ).
Mr. Owens was preceded in death by his parents, wives Glenda Owens and Marie Owens, brother Donnie Owens, half brother Melvin Lee Owens, and half sister Lila Rae Lewis.
