Thomas “Bud” Moon – Obituary

Thomas “Bud” Moon, 93, of Huntsville, AL passed away peacefully after an extended illness. Thomas was a native of New Hope, AL and a permanent resident of Madison County since 1960. He was a member of Our Lady of the Valley Catholic Military Chapel and Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Huntsville. He was a 20 year (1940-1960) U.S. Navy veteran and served aboard the U.S.S. Tuscaloosa during WWII, including the Normandy invasion, and the U.S.S. Wisconsin during the Korean War. After his military retirement, he worked 23 years for Teledyne Wah Chang as an electrical supervisor.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 70 years, Annie P. Moon; parents, Clarence L. and France J. Moon; sisters, Frances Nell Martin and Rachael Hayes; and brothers, Edward O’Neal and John Wallace Moon.

Survivors include his sons, Thomas W. Moon (Vicki) of Franklin, TN, and Dennis E. Moon (Mary) of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Russell Moon (Linda), Emily Hastings (Keelan), Stephen C. Moon (Brittany) and Melissa Lord (Mike); ten great-grandchildren; and brother, William T. Moon of Nashville.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday, February 28 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Huntsville. The funeral mass will follow at the church at 11 with Father Mike Mac Mahon officiating. Burial will be in Bethel Cemetery, New Hope, AL.

Memorials may be made to St. Vincent DePaul at Holy Spirit Catholic Church.
