Thomas B. “Tommy” Mitchell, Jr., passed away Saturday, December 16, 2023 at AMG Specialty Hospital in Batesville, MS. He was born in Belmont, MS to Thomas B. Mitchell, Sr. and Evie Lou Pharr Mitchell. He was retired from Sunshine Mills in 2004 as a line leader. He was a member of Antioch Baptist Church. He enjoyed spending times with his grandbabies who lovingly called him “Pops.” He enjoyed riding motorcycles, working on vehicles and building model cars. He was a “Jack of all Trades” and would do anything for anyone including his family. He loved talking to everyone about the Lord.
Funeral services will be Tuesday, December 19, 3:30 p.m. at Antioch Baptist Church with Bro. Dean Warren and Bro. Casey Crum officiating. Burial will be in Antioch Cemetery. Deaton Funeral Home, Belmont, MS will be in charge of arrangements.
He is survived by his wife 42 years, Frances Mitchell; two daughters, Violet Louise Mitchell-Jefcoat (Beau) and Valerie Louise Davis (Nick); grandchildren, Jeremiah Thomas Jefcoat and Jackson Keith Davis; his sister, Shirley Taylor and several nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Flavis Nelson Mitchell and sisters, Sylvia Mitchell, Violet Mitchell and Eulaler Mitchell.
Pallbearers will be Nick Davis, Beau Jefcoat, David Mitchell, Stanley Mitchell, Thomas Troy Taylor, Jerry Mitchell and Grant Letson. Honorary pallbearers will be Jeremiah Thomas Jefcoat, Jackson Keith Davis, Landon Thomas and Glenn Daniel.
Visitation will be Monday, December 18, beginning at 5 p.m. at continuing until service time Tuesday.
