Thomas Aubrey Howell, 73, of Decatur, Alabama, passed away on December 22, 2023. Visitation will be on Wednesday, December 27 from 11am to 1pm at Roselawn Funeral Home. The Celebration of Life services will begin, at 1pm at Roselawn Funeral Home with Brandon Lewis officiating. He will be laid to rest at Roselawn Cemetary.
Thomas Howell is survived by wife, Teresa Howell, his daughter Tracie Sherwood, her husband Jeremy Sherwood, son’s Cody Howell, and Patrick Howell and wife Mary Howell. His sister Mary Ellen Markham, sister-in-law Trudi Findley and Robert Findley, and sister-in-law Angie Scales and John Scales. His five grandchildren, Abbie Sherwood, Addison Sherwood, Raina King, Aubrey Howell, and Tallen Howell; and several nieces and nephews.
He was proceeded in death by his loving father Lowell Aubrey Howell and mother Mary Montine Howell. His sister, Betty Jean Brod.
Thomas Howell graduated Brilliant High School in 1968. He retired from the Decatur Police Department with over 47 years of law enforcement. During this time, he held several positions to include School Resource Officer, Patrol Officer, K9 officer, and Narcotics investigator. He served as a Field Training Officer mentor to many new police officers and was an active member of the Decatur FPO Lodge 46. Thomas was a loving husband, father, and grandaddy. He was a member of Brilliant Church of Christ and enjoyed spending time with his family and liked to travel.

Pallbearers will be Jeremy Sherwood, Cody Howell, Patrick Howell, Andy Markham, Vance Summers, Ollan Burruss, and Tallen Howell.
In Lieu of flowers, memorials will be made to American Cancer Society, Huntsville Hospital Foundation, or a charity of your choice.
