Thomas Alton Slaton, age 66, passed away Nov. 4, 2017. A memorial service will be announced and held at a later date.
Thomas was a graduate of Southside High School in Gadsden where he was voted most likely to succeed. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army Special Forces where he served as a medic. He was a great guitar player and loved to entertain his troops. He played semi-pro football in Atlanta from 1970-1972. He was an avid fisherman and loved his Alabama Crimson Tide and his special friend, Jessy. Thomas was preceded in death by his mother, Mildred Eller Steward; father, Thomas Alton Slaton; brother, James “Spud” Steward Jr.; and nephew, James Kenneth Williams.
Survivors include his wife, Sherry Slaton; children, Amy Vickery (Thomas), Kim Paradise, Lori Burchell (Tim), Thomas Cody Slaton, Shannon Mosely, and Chad Mosely; siblings, Sarah Clark and Gary Steward; ten grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Memorials may be made to Wounded Warriors or the Colbert County Animal Shelter.
