Thomas A. Sharp was born in Huntsville, Alabama to parents James Earnest Sharp and Pauline Cameron Sharp on August 29, 1930, and passed away on July 26, 2024, at the age of 93.

He was owner of Tom Sharp Tire Company for over 30 years and served as president of the Alabama Tire Dealers Association from 1969-1971. He then served as Vice President for Sharp Communications for 14 years until he retired in 2008. Tom served in the Korean War where he was awarded the Bronze Star. He was one of the original founding members of the 20th Special Forces group of the Alabama National Guard. Colonel Sharp retired from the Guard in 1990. Tom served in many local and state civic committees, boards and organizations and was a member of the Ditto Landing Marina Board for 18 years and served as its president for a number of years.

Tom loved to fly and was an active member of the Flying Club at RSA for many years.

Tom is survived by his wife of 57 years, Martha Morris Sharp; children, Paula Sharp Stewart (Curtis), Tom Sharp Jr. (Pat), Tim Sharp (Kim), Kevin Sharp (Fleming) and Keith Sharp (Leigh); sisters, Joanne Sharp Romine and Peggy Sharp Tucker (Mike), brother, Jimmy Sharp; 11 grandchildren, many great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

Visitation will be from 10 to 11 a.m. on Monday, August 5, 2024, at Laughlin Service Funeral Home. The funeral service will follow in the chapel with Pastor L.Z. Johnson officiating. Burial will be in Rice Cemetery.
