Thelma Tedder Hawkins Atnip, 91 of Athens, Alabama died on Thursday, February 20, 2014, at her home. She was a member of Wooley Springs Baptist Church and has lived in this area for the last 48 years.
Born Friday, July 28, 1922 in Cleveland, Mississippi, she was the daughter of the late David Tedder and the late Tommie Lovett Tedder. She was preceded in death by two husbands: James E. Hawkins and Pink A. Atnip, her parents, brothers: Thurman B. Tedder and Paul L. Tedder, and sisters: Thera Gray Greer, Izona Norwood, Clara Bell Massey, Grace Estess, Frasia Armstrong and Velma Harden.
Surviving are son, Ralph Gordon Hawkins of Brooklyn, NY, grandchildren: Phillip (Heather) Fox of Ardmore, AL, Jessica (James) Atkins of Athens, AL, Ian Hawkins of NYC, NY, and Rowan Hawkins of Rochester, NY, and great-grandchildren: Matthew & Dylan Patrick, and Elijah Atkins.
Funeral services will be at 2:00 PM on Monday, February 24, 2014 at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama with Bro. Tony Boyles officiating. There will be a graveside service on Tuesday, February 25, 2014, at 2:00 P.M. in Delta Heights Memorial Gardens, Cleveland, MS.
The family will receive friends from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM on Monday, February 24, 2014, at Ardmore Chapel Funeral Home, Ardmore, Alabama.
