McMinnville resident Thelma L. Johnson, age 90, was born on September 20, 1934, to T.E. and Minnie Brock in Bledsoe County. She passed away on March 04, 2025 following an extended illness. She was a member of Highland Church of Christ. Thelma was a good Christian woman that loved the Lord. Thelma loved going to church and enjoyed bible study. She was a former 25-year employee of Century Magnetek. She loved to garden, whether it be vegetables or flowers. She liked to can or freeze fruits or vegetables to share with her family. Her canned tomatoes were especially good. She loved her boys and grandkids whom were all precious to her.
She was preceded in death by husband, Leonard Johnson, parents T. E. and Minnie Hitchcock Brock, granddaughter Lela Anne Johnson, brothers Odell, Odean, Alvin, and Lloyd, and her sister Pauline Bickford. Survivors include two sons Donald (Rebecca) Johnson and Danny (Deborah) Johnson of McMinnville, three grandchildren Kelly (Erica) Johnson, Travis (Jennifer) Johnson, and Sheena (Thomas Vaughn) Johnson all of McMinnville, three step grandchildren, Eric (Jenene) Taylor of Rock Island, TN, LeAnn (Chad) Dyer of Manchester, TN, and Adam Taylor of Jacksonville, FL, and nine great-grandchildren, four step great-grandchildren, and six great-great grandchildren.
Funeral service will be at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, March 06, 2025, in the McMinnville Funeral Home Chapel. Bro. Rickey Burks and Bro. Eddie Reed will officiate. Interment will follow in the Gardens of Memory Cemetery. The Johnson Family will receive friends Wednesday from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. and again Thursday from 10:00 A.M. until 1:00 P.M. at the parlors of McMinnville Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Highland Church of Christ in Thelma’s memory.
